Barbara Pella (1973) is born and raised in Stuttgart, Germany. After finishing highschool (Hölderlin-Gymnasium, Stuttgart) she does an internship at advertising agency RG Wiesmeier in Munich. In 1996 she travels to her next challenge: she goes to The Netherlands where she studies graphic design (Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Arnhem) and audiovisual design
(Willem de Kooning Academie, Rotterdam).
Rotterdam; open-minded, spacey and windy; world's biggest port; a melting pot with all kinds of cultural traditions living side by side.
In 2001 Barbara Pella starts her own design studio in her new home town, this incredibly inspiring city. She takes her stern and steady German background with her and fertilises it with a more loose but crystal clear Dutch approach,
making the best of two worlds: Dutch design from Germany. 'Form follows function' and 'back to basics' are two of her principles. No idle gimmicking, but searching for and finding the shortest cut from problem to solution, which doesn't necessarily exclude frivolity or romantics.
Besides the things directly related to her studies you can also call upon Barbara Pella for things such as spatial design and project management. With products as diverse as corporate identities, personal printed matter, films, expositions and executive production of (cultural) events.
No matter what, no matter where,
Barbara Pella pushes back frontiers to find the right solution.
